Need Some Outfit Inspiration?
What am I going to wear?!?! That’s a question we all ask as we stare at our full closets, not feeling inspired by anything. What is a gal to do? Well, I have a few tricks up my sleeve when it comes to outfit inspiration!
Do a Closet Cleanse
I would venture to say that part of the reason that you are not inspired by anything in your closet is because it has been a while since you’ve done an honest closet cleanse. AKA, get rid of stuff you won’t/can’t wear.
So, if it’s been a while, clean out your closet. If you haven’t worn something in the last year, ask yourself honestly if you will EVER wear it again. If the answer is maybe, make a commitment to wear it it in the next week. That should be a good catalyst for outfit inspiration.
Dress for a Theme
I discussed this in a recent blog post about putting down the quarantine sweats and starting to “dress up” again. Think of it like your kids theme days at school. Even though you might be like me and HATE red ribbon week and all the ridiculous things the kids have to wear, you can use this idea to your advantage. Perhaps one day you decide that country is your theme. Pick out something from your closet that fits that theme. It might just give you the outfit inspiration you need to put together a whole new look!
Add Some Hooks
Try adding a hook either inside your closet, if it is large enough, or maybe just outside your closet. A rack works well for this too. Ever since I was a kid I’ve had some kind of rack or hook in my room that I use to hang up my outfits I am planning. This will really help you visualize what different pieces might look like together. Sometimes I will put something there that I don’t have any idea what to pair it with, but I just know that I want to wear it.
